Decades of Boating History in Chatham
Outermost Harbor Marine has grown from a simple protected harbor into one of Cape Cod’s premier full-service marinas. Our history reflects decades of investment, evolution, and commitment to the boating community in Chatham.
Built on Local Roots, Grown Through Experience
What began as a protected inlet for local fishermen and beachgoers has evolved into a modern marina serving recreational boaters, anglers, and families across Cape Cod.
1950s–1960s
As early as the 1950s, the inlet that would become Outermost Harbor provided shelter for local beachgoers and striper fishermen. In the 1960s, Horne’s Marina began taking shape through dredging and bulkheading, forming the foundation of the marina basin that exists today.
1970s–1980s
During this period, the marina served as a key hub for Chatham’s commercial fishing fleet. Its working waterfront roots played an important role in shaping the boating culture and community presence that still defines the area today.
1990s
The marina began transitioning from a primarily commercial operation to a recreational boating facility. In 1998, Outermost Harbor Marine was officially established, with a focus on customer experience, service, and long-term growth.
By 1999, OHM had become affiliated with Grady-White Boats, earning recognition for both sales performance and customer satisfaction.
Modern Growth & Expansion
OHM became a full-line Yamaha dealer and expanded its service capabilities, building a strong reputation for technical expertise and customer satisfaction.
New ownership led to major reinvestment, including facility upgrades, expanded dry storage, and a full marina rebuild after storm damage.
OHM became a Mercury dealer, expanded partnerships, and continued to grow its reputation as one of Cape Cod’s top marinas.
