Why Winterizing Matters on Cape Cod
Cape Cod winters are hard on boats. The single biggest risk is freeze damage — water left in the wrong places expands when it freezes and can crack a powerhead or lower unit, a repair that costs more than a season of storage.
The second is fuel. Ethanol-blended gas goes stale and draws moisture over a long, damp winter, gumming up carburetors and injectors. Do nothing and you will fight a hard-starting, rough-running engine in May. Proper winterization heads off both.
Shrink-Wrapping and Blocking
A boat left under a loose tarp traps moisture against the hull and works itself loose in the first real blow. We shrink-wrap and block boats properly so they are covered, supported, and sealed against a winter of wind, snow, and salt air.

Outermost Harbor Marine is a factory Yamaha & Mercury Certified Technician shop. Our technicians complete ongoing factory training and use genuine OEM parts, so your winterization is dealership-level work done in-house — never subcontracted out.

Storage and Dockage Options
Our crew handles the haul-out, so there is no trailering and no ramp lines. Once your boat is out, wrapped and blocked, it stays here through the winter with regular checks until spring commissioning.

When should I winterize my boat on Cape Cod?
Most Cape Cod boats come out between October and early December. The deciding factor is the first hard freeze — water left in an engine or a freshwater system expands when it freezes and can crack a powerhead or lower unit. Booking before the fall rush means you pick your haul-out date instead of waiting for one.
What does winterization include?
Full winterization of engines and systems, fuel stabilizing and fogging, oil and oil filter changes, draining and protecting freshwater systems, unhooking batteries, shrink-wrapping and blocking, and secure winter storage with regular checks through the off-season.
Do you shrink wrap boats?
Yes. Shrink-wrapping and blocking are part of our off-season service, so your boat is covered and supported properly for a Cape Cod winter rather than sitting under a tarp that traps moisture. Shrink wrap is priced by boat length: $34 per foot up to 23 feet, $38 per foot for 24 to 27 feet, and $43 per foot for 28 feet and up.
